BIOGRAPHY
NC Dread has always been in love with singing for as long as he can remember. He started out singing in church choirs or accappella groups that harmonized under the influence of Az Yet and Boys2Men. However, when he was introduced to reggae, it was there where he found his passion for this genre of music. His passion for the music drove him to write and perform songs wherever the opportunity presented itself. It was through a producer, Awakhiwe ‘LaSoul Productions’ Mbuyazwe, based in Cape Town, that his dream of recording was realised. This is where he recorded the smash hit single ‘Always’ produced by ace Jamaican Rvssian HCR. He subsequently recorded other songs that were included in his promotional mixtape entitled “THIS IS WHO I AM” where he was introducing himself to the people as an artist. The mixtape was a huge success featuring the number 1 hits “Always”, “Take you away” and “True God”, which have and are still being played in major radio stations and clubs in South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Uganda, Ghana, Kenya, UK, Jamaica etc These songs are available for download for free on his facebook page, soundcloud or reverbnation.

Based on the success of his mixtape, he has established more contacts internationally and has collaborated with international producers in his recent work which include hit singles “I Know”and “Games” which have been playlisted by prominent deejays worldwide. Recently, he was chosen to represent Africa on a riddim called Fallin Leaves Riddim produced in Jamaica and a line up made up of only Jamaicans. He once again produced an internationally appealing and well received single entitled “What you do” on the Fallin Leaves Riddim. This has expanded his fan base far reaching across the globe, as many deejays and radio stations on each continent playlisted the song.

His breakthrough tune ‘Dem cah stop mi’ is a testimony to his unwavering focus on making it in the reggae music scene. The song is based on the successful and strong ‘party vibe’ riddim called Mullet Bay Riddim produced by famed Jamaican producers, Fras Twinz Music alongside DJ Outkast. It had heavy rotation on Jamaica's ZIP103FM prompting the Jamaica Star to a an article on the artist's rise and the tune itself. The Fras Twins, who are the force behind the success behind renowned reggae artist Jah Cure, have expressed an interest in working the singjay going forward. In addition, "Dem Cah Stop Mi" went on to be officially recognised as the Number One Dancehall Single in the SA Top 10 Dancehall Singles 2014.

2015 was to be the year that defined NC Dread as a dancehall superstar with his album Hustle doing very well on the charts and in sales around the world. Backed by leading distributors, 21st Hapilos Inc, the album proved to be a big success with the album gaining prominence on a global stage.
