MAGNUM STING 2014

MagnumSting2014 came and as expected, it came with its fair share of excitement and drama. It is unfortunate that the show ended prematurely as violence broke out whilst Kipo was clashing Ryno. It must have been hard for Kipo to take as he seemed to be on his way to reclaiming his crown from Ryno who had outclassed him in 2013 at the same venue.

We have picked a few stand out performances from the 'greatest one night reggae dancehall show on earth.'

She did well and justified the prime time slot she was given. Showed her growing maturity and JamWorld loved every moment of her set.

Lyrically gifted!!!! Kabaka is one of the most underrated artists of his generation. This performance should give him the recognition his talent deserves. The bare forward he got throughout his set should propel him on.

Talk of hotness you talk about Ishawna. Her sexy outfit matched her performance and she seemed fired up in the aftermath of her breakup with FootaHype earlier this year. An outstanding all round performance on the biggest stage of them all. Large up the dancehall diva.

Another performance to match that of Kibaki Pyramid. Energetic, lively and entertaining. JamWorld loves big acts, Exco took it to them! Big up the man, Canada must be proud.

Without a shred of doubt, one of the biggest dancehall artists over the last 3 years, Demarco had the weight of expectation on his shoulders. The Puppy Tail artist churned out big piece after big piece from his catalog. Controversy surrounding him and Masicka was rather unfortunate though he has since moved to clear his name of any wrongdoing. May his mother rest in peace.

All the hype and excitement was around him ahead of the show. He grabbed the spotlight with both hands. He even called out JamWorld's greatest son - Ninja Man - to a lyrical war. The audacity to do that alone warrants a Grammy! He came, saw and conquered. A contender for the top performer, he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand receiving numerous forwards. Lyrics on point, he called out Ryno, Alkaline & Ninja. Big balls, big act, big future!

It should have been called the "Return of the King".

Having last graced JamWorld 8 years ago, Capleton came to remind Jamaica of his prowess. With a bag a tune paralleled by none, he thrilled his fans with hit after hit, letting the crowd sing along to every syllable. Jamaica should be thankful they have such an artist, they will find it hard to replace him. "Laing, next time yuh a bring me come over for Sting, 2 hours me want...", he commanded at the end of his set which was met by rapturous applause by the fans.

He brought the fire, the energy, the lyrics and the aura of Capleton which he has been taking around the world including Johannesburg in Dec 2012.

Who took Sting 2014? Perhaps the question is, "Who was the runner up?"
